Hi All,
I've just got a shiny new 875 motherboard. Most things are working except for the onboard sound, and more importantly, dma on the drives.
I've tried enabling what I think should be the right settings in the 2.4.22 kernel:
PCI IDE chipset support
Generic PCI IDE Chipset support
Generic PCI bus-master DMA support
Use PCI DMA by default when available
Intel PIIXn chipsets support
lspci gives:
00:1f.2 IDE Interface: Intel Corp. 82801EB Ultra ATA Storage Controller (rev 02)
grepping the kernel source seems to indicate that this chip is supported with the PIIXn driver.
However, when I run hdparm -d1 /dev/hda I get:
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
using_dma = 0 (off)
I'm out of ideas. There is no indication of a problem in either dmesg or the logs. Has anyone got this board working with DMA? Which kernel/chipset did you use?
Many thanks!
