Since I used file manager quite a lot, I wonder if there is any program serves as a drop-down quake-like file manager in KDE, just like Yakuake as a quake-like terminal program for KDE. Or is there any way to make dolphin behave like this. I mean, one can just press a shortcut key to bring up the file manager, and press again to hide it.
Any suggestions ? |

I think if you don't need the slide-in animation you could keep dolphin as your filemanager and do the show/hide via a bash script that uses x11-misc/wmctrl to remove your dolphin instance from the taskbar and and from the pager and hide it. when you need it you can move that instance to your current desktop and show it again. bind that bash script to a key and you are done.
See http://spiralofhope.com/wmctrl-examples.html for a wmctrl intro _________________ If English was good enough for Jesus, then it's good enough for you! |
