Hi.

I tried to install Gentoo on my laptop [ Asus UL20A] and neither ethernet nor wifi card was recognised and able to use. What have I to do to install drivers(modules?) for them? Normally I would insmod them but directory /lib/... is read-only and I can't do this.

Intel WiFi Link 1000
Atheros AR8131 LAN

Thanks for help.

the wifi wont work with systemrescuecd nor with the official gentoo media - requires firmware not included with either

the wired, however, should work just fine. I think it's atl1c, as one poster mentioned above.
For that one, I'm quite certain systemrescuecd will pick it up

A Google search doesn't result in much about modules of those cards, although the manufactures provide their drivers.

Anyway, is everyone sure that the modules are in the kernel?

Could You please upload a compiled atl1c.ko module? I receive an error while compiling it.

rozyk,

It has to be compiled for your exact kernel, with a few key settings identical to your kernel, or it won't load.
