I am trying to get my HP DeskJet 920c USB printer to work using CUPS. I followed the Gentoo printing HOWTO at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/printing-howto.xml
I get as far as:
# foomatic-configure -s cups -p $printer_model_number -c $print_device_path -n queue name -d driver
or in my case:
# foomatic-configure -s cups -p HP/DeskJet_920C -c file: /dev/usb/lp0 -n HPdeskJet920c -d hpijs
There is no /dev/usb/lp0 on my system. There is the /dev/usb directory, but no lp0.
I have 2.4.22 kernel with USB support, USB printing, and UHCI. I do an "lsmod" and I can see usbcore, printer, and hid. I have all relevant USE flags in make.conf. I emerged cups, foomatic, and hpijs as well.
Did I skip a step somewhere? |
