Hi,
I am a Noob and want to install Gentoo on my Notebook. My Problem is, when I want to configure my wlan RaLink RT2561/RT61 rev B 802.11g for Internetconnection, he says: phy0 -> rt2x00lib_request_firmware: Error - Failed to request Firmware.
The right kernel is loaded.
So how can I get the firmware and what I have to do with it!? |

assuming you are booting gentoo installed on the hard drive
Code: | mkdir /etc/portage
echo "net-wireless/rt61-firmware-1.2 ~amd64" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
emerge rt61-firmware |
If you are booting a livecd that will not connect, three choices:
connect by cable until gentoo is installed and the wireless works
use any livecd of appropriate bitness that does connect until gentoo is installed and working with the network configured
