Dear all,
Since 1 week ago, my computer running Kernel 2.6.34-r12 crashed 4 times:
- first: when changing the write permission of my usb stick
- second: when emerge java-config
- third: when emerge -uDa --newuse world, typing Yes/No
- four: when clicking on the caps lock.
In all cases the keyboard, mouse, stop working.
In the first 3 times, after the crash my caps lock light intermittently, and the fan turns in middle speed.
I don't update the software or kernel, before.
How can I debug this issue? Is there some log that I can read?
Thank you very much for any kind of help. |

Were you using X (graphical environment) at the time? Did you try logging in through the network after the crash? Was it a crash (everything b0rk3d) or a freeze (everything stuck)? _________________ Horse sense is the thing that keeps horses from betting on people. --W.C. Fields

You debug it by getting a log of the events. Invoke it again, boot into another system, or ssh into it from another system, and acquire a dmesg or messages to display what is occurring. _________________ idella4@aus |

What's your video driver? Need to check in Gentoo bugzilla, for similar crash patterns. Monitor temperature sensors. Try to enable kernel panick / oopses. This would give some idea on what functions fail in kernel. |
