just right click the icon and pick another...you can find great icons at http://www.kde-look.org/index.php?page=1. the icosx and noia icon sets both have phoenix/firebird icons. noia is in portage, just
Code:
emerge noia
and you are on your way!
have fun.

thanks, the icon on the desktop is from the icon pack on the gentoo website however the taskbar icon and the icon in the top left of the window still remain the big black X, i can't right click and change them :( hmm perhaps there was something missing when I compiled it?

cheers :?

ah, that is the default application icon, there is a setting deep within your phoenix/firebird config file that can set it and you can download some cool ones from texturizer.net...

i am not on my normal pc right now and wont be able to get you specifics for a few hours. when i get back i will post a faq on the subject.

sorry for misunderstanding your first post

cheers

ok, finally at my box :)

first thing you need is an suitable picture you want to use as an icon (i have quite a few firebird icons, if you want any. let me know :)

next, make sure the picture is suitable for an icon, edit it in an icon editor (i prefer to use KIconEdit), and save the file as a .xpm (it won't work otherwise. also the name of the file must be main-window. the final file will look like...
Code:
main-window.xpm
. after you save your icons, simply move the file you just saved to the proper directory.

the directory will depend on how you installed firebird (emerge, binary, self-compile, etc)...
find your MozillaFirebird directory, make some new directories with the command
Code:
mkdir -vp /[MozillaFirebirdHome]/chrome/icons/default
then simply move your newly created icon into this new directory, fire up firebird, and sit back and enjoy the 1337ness ;)

here is a screenshot showing the icon i used...[img:886fa77de6]http://www.clumsyninja.com/images/fire_icon.jpg[/img:886fa77de6]

let me know if everything works out :)

Had the same question and found this thread.

BUT,

How do you do this for OTHER apps: Do you create the same /chrome/icons/default folders in ANY app to do this?
