Selecting portaudio's backend alsa / jack [Solved]

Hello,

1/ I use portaudio only with espeak mainly because there is no other sensible choice for this package.
2/ I built media-libs/portaudio-19_pre20071207 USE="alsa cxx -debug jack -oss"

It nevertheless seems that espeak always outputs to alsa default output and never to jack.

Is there a way (apart from building portaudio -alsa +jack) to instruct portaudio to use jack as backend ?
