I was dual booting WinXP/Gentoo (each on a separate drive) but now my WinXP drive won't load. I tried fixmbr with the WinXP CD but no luck. So I broke down and just formatted it using the WinXP CD (where you create/delete partitions). Ok so now it is blank. When I try to create a new partition converting to NTFS (not quick) it gets lik >=90% and says that the drive is damaged. Its just over a year. Does anyone think that if I put it in another WinXP system and tried formatting it there would work? Any other suggestions? |

You could try doing that. Put it in another machine and use the drive management tool to format it and created the partion(s). If that doesnt work try downloading your drives diagnostic tools and run them. |
