I have been trying to install mythtv 0.21 however I get an error that I believe is because I don't have the QT3 development library. Can anyone tell me where I can find this? thanks in advance |

emerge -uND world |

DONAHUE, Qt3Support is something different than you seem to think.
The correct question is "what's wrong with more recent versions of myth ?". |

qt3support Enable the qt3Support libraries for qt4 (from ufed) is all I know or care.
media-tv/mythtv-0.22_p24255 USE="alsa css dvb lirc mmx perl python tiff (-altivec) -autostart -debug -directv -faad -fftw -ieee1394 -jack -lcd -pulseaudio -vdpau -xvmc" VIDEO_CARDS="nvidia -via" works fine for me. |

qt3 has been deprecated, is unmaintained, and was removed from portage.
It's almost never a good idea to install qt3 software at this point. Migrate to something newer. If you can't try the sunset overlay. |

I would keep away from that overlay.
Till qt3 was dropped, main tree carried several workarounds that made things work with both qt3 and qt4.
Now they are long gone, so installing things from that overlay may break packages from the main tree. |

I'd suggest you add the current media-tv/mythtv-0.23.1 ebuild(s) to your package.keywords and go with that. I'm running those and everything's been quite stable. Even if you could successfully install 0.21 you'd have to deal with the potential nasty Unicode database conversion stuff that occurred with 0.23 when you upgrade.

x11-libs/qt-qt3support
it is not a choice to build this.
gmyth is gobject. the gui will not crash. |

Just to reiterate:
Qt4 is not compatible with Qt3, not binary compatible, and not source compatible.
The only way to run Qt3 programs is to install Qt3. Qt3Support from Qt4 will NOT work. It's for porting, not running qt3 apps. |
