Exchange server, Gentoo Client, and No Joy.... :(

Having just installed Gentoo on my HP Omnibook 6000 laptop I have one small problem...
Is there anyway (Other than paying for Ximian connector) to access my company mail acount on an Exchange 2000 server ??

sure, what about IMAP, in evolution or sylpheed.

don't really know if theres a way to use M$ MAPI of exchange...

This is the last thing I need to fix to convert all our office laptops to Gentoo !!

well, its nearly self-explaining.
what have you installed?

if you want to have a outlook-clone -> use evolution
it has all you need, calendar, contacts, it even communicates with exchange for meetings.

if you just wanna have imap-access to exchange -> use sylpheed.

look into the settings / accounts. it's really easy.

Ok so I tried...

Evolution - NG
Kmail - NG
MozillaThunderbird - NG
Fetchmail - NG
Sylpheed - NG

However I can sync to my Exchange calander using the Exchange 2000 plugin for KOrganiser - so what gives ?? - I refuse to pay for a Ximian Connector License :-(
