HELP - Is the thing Stuck?

I have gotten as far as "emerge -k emu10k1" in the installation process and that was almost 2 hours ago. Stuff is STILL flying by on my screen "like I'm compiling something!" Should it take this long and if not, is it safe to "CTRL-C" stop it? (Or however you would do it)

I'm trying to install to:
Original AMD 1.4 ghz with 256mb of DDR mem all to my 2nd HD (hdb).
GeForce 4 Ti 4400
Soundblaster Live Value!


I emerged "-k nvidia-kernel" without a probelm (apparently)?

The only thing I changed was in 'CXXFLAGS' and I changed it from "-march=i686" to "-march=athlon"

I'm attemtpting a "stage 3" NOT GRP and I emerged the gaming-sources kernel. This only took like 45 minutes.

Help this poor ingnorant newbie = PLEASE

PS. Redhat 9 was easier! - MAY BE THE EASIEST!!
