I've got a Dell Inspiron 5150. I've downloaded and burned the Gentoo 1.4 ISOs. I put the first CD into my DVD player and restart the computer. It boots off the CD fine about half the time but does it slowly. Then it begins loading the first couple modules (like the install image and whatnot) and freezes right when the first Gentoo slapsh screen is displayed. I don't even get a chance to install it, it just locks up.
Sometimes when I boot off of it it just sits there in the VERY initial boot off the CD, it has about two lines of white text at the top of the screen that talks about Linux bootloader or something. I mean from the start it's slow.
Anyone know why this might be? Anyone see similiar things? Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks! |
