I don't want to sound harsh but why don't you consider doing a TAR of things you want to backup from your Linux server(s) and put them onto a Windows share that you backup with whatever you want? This is how I'd do for I would never, ever install BackupExec on a Linux server. And certainly not on one of my Gentoo servers, for sure . Unless you have very, very specific reasons, of course.
It's far easier to restore a Linux system using the tools Linux provides than going the proprietary way, especially that of BackupExec. I'd leave BackupExec to the Windows world. A TAR file really contains everything you need for a bare-metal restore. _________________ Gentoo addict: tomorrow I quit, I promise!... Just one more emerge...

I need to backup directly from the gentoo server to my tape auto-loader. Its to much data to move over to my windows server. I plan on creating a compressed mysqldump for my databases to the same directory I store my flat files and then backup all the flat files directly to tape with the mysqldump.
Thanks though. |

Have you considered Bacula? I have installed it (older version though) and it's quite functional. Never failed. _________________ Gentoo addict: tomorrow I quit, I promise!... Just one more emerge...
