ok i just did a fresh install of gentoo. when the bootloader comes up i can load windows just fine. however, i get an error when trying to boot gentoo. For starters, my root partition is on /dev/hda8 (hd0,7), and my boot partition is on /dev/hda6 (hd0,5). When i chose to boot gentoo it says:
Quote: |
root (hd0,5)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type0x83
kernel /boot/bzImage root=/dev/hda8
Error 15: File not found
|
when i go back to the bootloader and go to the command prompt and type
Quote: |
kernel /boot/bzImage
|
i get the same exact error. Did i do something wrong when compiling my kernel? am i going to have to recompile my kernel. everything is correct in my grub.conf file, so i know that is not the problem. thanks alot. |
