Are you using dynamic powermanagement?
Try switching to profile, the flickering should stop. |

Which kernel?
Powersaving is in the kernel, perhaps something went wrong there.
I get flickering, but this is because I use dynpm by default. I switch to high profile before running something demanding, like a game. In profile mode, it never flickers for me. This is on vanilla 2.6.37. |

Yes for kernel 2.35, no for kernel 2.37.
Do you use KMS? |

but ofcourse.
I can say that the flickering started after I've removed hal from my system and switched udev flag on for xorg-server _________________ Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity and I'm not sure about the former - Albert Einstein |

But of course...
I love a good sense of humor.
Wait! I had such a thing using a matrox graphics card in combination with some gnome stuff.
I'll sleep on this. Perhaps I remember tomorrow... |

Slept on that but I'm still not sure.
I believe it had to do with mesa in my case.
Sorry... |

Hi,
Got the same problem. Since an update (~amd64), my screen (I think it come from KDE ...) occasionally flickering, one time per 2-3 min.
Got a radeon 4550 + 2.6.37 + KMS
Tried ebuild 9999 for driver and mesa/libdrm and problem is still there. Don't know what happening, I not really switched (I've done nothing for) and so, don't know what Xorg/KDE is using (UDEV/HAL).
Any idea ? I think the problem was already here with the previous kernel version 2.6.36 ... _________________ Mon MediaWiki perso : http://pix-mania.dyndns.org |
