I setup a diskless client and found that nothing is being written to /var/log/boot.log. I'm using rsyslog as the system logger. Overall everything seems to be running well and all the other logs are recording just fine. Here is the relevant entry in rsyslog.conf.
Code: | # Save boot messages also to boot.log
local7.* /var/log/boot.log

I'm not sure what's missing. Any ideas?

I'm still struggling with an answer for this one. Is there any kernel configuration items that might prevent entries from going to boot.log? Perhaps someone with a diskless system can share their rsyslog, sysklogd or syslog-ng config? I will also try and hit up the folks at rsyslog. |
