hello there.
I'm looking for a good ripper to rip records with. I've tried ripperX and grep (not grep as in pipe ), but I'm not quite satisfied with any of them.
In windows I used CDEX, and I liked it, but I've never really figured out what packages I should download to make LCDEX work (yes, I'm quite lame sometimes )
do you have any nice suggestion on a appropriate program? I would prefer a GUI though... _________________ Computer science is no more about computers than astronomy is about telescopes. |

If you take a few seconds to do a search, you will find literally hundreds of threads on this subject. In fact, your thread will probably end up in the "duplicate threads" section in no time.
To be nice though, look at grip or sound-juicer. Both are excellent GUI-based rippers. Personally I use abcde, it's certainly worth a look. |

I have to throw in a vote for abcde as well. Once you've set it up the way you like it (edited the config file), you simply pop a CD in your drive and type abcde to rip it and encode it. |

wow, ok.
I tried it just for fun, but I was tired and wasn't in a mood to read the config-file, so everything got fucked up
I think I'll try again, it sounds really nice using abcde _________________ Computer science is no more about computers than astronomy is about telescopes. |

Similarly with grip. Put a CD in, run grip, it names all the tracks according to freeddb then rips according to format and naming convention you choose. |

Ripit http://www.geocities.com/ukcave/ripit.html is multi-threaded. It encodes in the backgroud. It's a perl script so you may have to do a little hacking to configure it how you want. _________________ The true guru is a teacher.
