I'm using rsync to sync from a ReiserFS3 partition to an HFS+ partiton. On some files with unusual characters in their filenames rsync always retransfers those files even if they haven't been touched. According to the rsync FAQ this occurs due to file systems changing the filename and advises to use --iconv=UTF-8,UTF8-MAC to fix this. However the gentoo iconv doesn't support the UTF8-MAC codeset. Why? _________________ man cannot be brave without being afraid |

I don't think iconv supports this at all. At least iconv on Debian and OpenSUSE also does not support this. |
