|
|
hi,
I am using the Xmail server MTA with virtual domains (for historical reasons). For a couple of users from one virtual domain, MTA relays all messages to another server (Exchange, with the same domain). The DNS MX record points to the Linux box with Xmail server, so this server receives all mail from the world.
My problem is, that if connection between Xmail and Exchange server fails, Xmail throws the relayed messages away instead of trying to deliver them later. I was unable to configure the Xmail server this way.
So my question is, is such a configuration possible with MTAs like Postfix or Sendmail?
Thank you in advance,
romee

I would bet that postfix will try this again, though I never tried it myself. But shouldn't this be normal behavior?
Maybe you could ask that questions here, too: http://xmailforum.homelinux.net/ _________________ ...it's only Rock'n'Roll, but I like it! |

postfix will do it fine. Have it relaying as an anti-spam/anti-virus relay to mail servers either running postfix, or some other MTA (axigen, exchange, etc). Inbound and outbound, so yes, postfix would be ideal if xmail won't do it. _________________ Ian Walker

Thank you guys, I'll try with Postfix then.
Anarcho, I've already tried that, but with no response. I guess the Xmail MTA is no longer so popular.
