i installed the vmware-workstation package, and ran the install script. it didnt end up solving my problem, and now i cant really boot. it hangs at "starting local" and after about 10 min. it gives a few more errors. how can i set grup to boot it in failsafe or something, so it dosent try to start it, and i can get rid of vmware? |

*bump*
i really need to know how to boot so that not everything starts when i boot, including vmware. like failsafe mode that i know mandrake sets up by default, or runlevel 2. i am using grub, i assume thats what i would use to boot to runlevel3 or whatever. |

Can't figure out why it hangs, but you can add init 1, if this still doesn't boot then you have a problem, you should then use another linux-distro to remove vmware from /etc/runlevels/.. boot or/and default or something. You can make you're own runlevel by copying a default one and changing the file /etc/inittab. init 1 will run single, hopefully vmware is not in boot and you will be fine. rc-update add <service> <name_runlevel>.
Hope it will do you some good, Alex _________________ "Remember there's a big difference between kneeling down and bending over.", Frank Zappa |
