Hi dear all.

Since I did "emerge -c" + "eclean-dist" it seems like gnome-mount is gone from my system as well as from the portage tree. There must be a good reason ...
However automouting USB sticks in pcmanfm doesn't work anymore. I know this subject is nothing new but after reading all topics in this respect, I still can't get feature back.

Here's a relevant extract from /etc/portage/package.use; any packages unmasked:
Code:
x11-base/xorg-server -hal kdrive
sys-fs/udev extras
sys-auth/consolekit policykit
sys-apps/hal acpi -crypt laptop X
gnome-base/gvfs gdu -hal -http
sys-apps/dbus X
sys-block/parted device-mapper
x11-libs/libfm udev
sys-auth/pambase consolekit

I think I still need hal for its requirement in hibernate feature. I also tried with hal not booted, but automount remained stuck. User belongs to plugdev group.
WM is started through .startx/xinitrc:
Code:
exec ck-launch-session dbus-launch --sh-syntax --exit-with-session startlxde

Is there anybody who knows how to solve this?

Thanks for your attention.

Hi,
Updated as mentionned above compiles fine.
Hiowever launching pcmanfm in LXDE returns in console as follows
Code:
:** (pcmanfm:2149): DEBUG: line = /home/user
** (pcmanfm:2149): DEBUG: line = 0
** (pcmanfm:2149): DEBUG: line = --show-pref
** (pcmanfm:2149): DEBUG: line = 0
** (pcmanfm:2149): DEBUG: icon theme changed!
but no GUI appears, i.e. only returning to prompt (in console). Any idea what could be missing?

EDIT:pcmanfm launches properly as root and automounts usb disk. Just got to find out where to tweak to allow regular user.

Thanks for your attention, interest and support

Hi dear all.

It seems like removing the -d command line option in /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart did the trick; reenabling pcmanfm as file manager for non root user that is.
Automount remains unfeatured though
EDIT:While running pcmanfm GUI,
Code:
ps -Alf | grep pcmanfm
only returns 2 lines, including the command itself. So pcmanfm seems instanciated only once ... as expected!

Thanks for your attention, interest and support.

Finally, I've removed gdu USE flag for gvfs, reactivated the -r option for pcmanfm, and added user to the /etc/fstab cdrom entry.

It did the trick for both USB and CD/DVD

THanks for your attention, interest and support.

Sorry, I missed seeing this earlier, but glad it all worked out.
