I'm surprised there're no ebuilds to support it, while the thing is officially supported now (yes, my Mozilla I mean  ).

So I modified the ebuild in sardemff77 overlay to include a qt4 use with some flags to point to /usr/lib64/qt4... but it didn't work out.

An email to the ebuild developer resulted in a silent update to the ebuilds (it's length got halved) but no qt4 flags....

Moved from Desktop Environments to Unsupported Software, it's not in the Portage tree so it's not officially supported.

I think he meant officially supported by *Mozilla*.

Make your own overlay. The Gentoo maintainer for Firefox is not interested in supporting anything beyond what Ubuntu Linux supports as far as I can tell.

Yes, he knows that.

Lets see how he responds when Firefox 4 becomes stable.

Maybe geki still has some recyclable firefox-qt4 ebuild lurking around his repository to start with, I had that thing (mostly) working many months ago.

Btw: Since when is that thing officially supported by Mozilla, and could you point us to an announcement of some sorts?

All the nightly have it... actually the support compilation from many toolkits.

Well, if any of you make it work, the Gentoo Mozilla maintainer said:

If you truely believe this go ahead and add support and test, if all goes well
then attach a patch and we will land it in the overlay.

He said that cause officially Mozilla have not announced anything about this. The source should be reliable, not just a blog.

And Mozilla might be only supporting this in the nighties.

In Firefox 4, at least in the official beta, it does support QT (Cairo) and various others cairos.
