KMail and S/MIME - how?

Hi all.

I've been trying to make KMail use S/MIME to sign my mails. However, even after trying to follow the instructions on http://kmail.kde.org/kmail-pgpmime-howto.html (which I cannot due to e.g. lack of a gpgme-0.3.15 ebuild), KMail still says that my plugin gpgme-smime.so is either outdated or not installed properly (0.3.14).

What have you done to make KMail use S/MIME?

Saw this @ www.kde.org under the changelog for KDE 3.1.4:

"kmail: Fix crypto plugin loading."

Will this maybe fix my problem?

I am now running KDE 3.2 (and thus KMail 1.6), but still haven't found out how to sign my mails with S/MIME.

Does anyone here do that? What needs to be emerged? Or do I have to install stuff in a non-Gentooish way? Or is it just plain impossible?

Copy /usr/portage/app-crypt/gpgme-0.3.14.ebuild to /usr/portage/app-crypt/gpgme-0.3.15.ebuild

and emerge it

Kmail stops complaining afterwards, but... (there's always a but). Whenever i try to sign message (with the sign icon) it wants to sign it with OpenPGP key. But if i select "Warn when trying to send unsigned messages" in S/MIME crypto plugin configuration, and select "Sign All Parts",.. everything works fine.

Any ideas?

Some guy/girl named Primoz registered bugzilla bug 42081 yesterday it seems about gpgme and kmail.

Let's see what happens when/if this bug is resolved.
