|
|
Hi,
I've bought a Gentoo instal CD from a vendor (giving back a little). It was a live CD with 2008.0_.x64_Live. It boots just fine, but does not recognize my network card. I've booted up an Ubuntu version which ran with the network card using the e1000e driver. I've read about the problems of this specific driver with it's maintainer and Linus, so I'm aware that there are two different ones (e1000 and e1000e).
On Live, the e1000e driver it absent. Is it still possible to install Gentoo on the device? Installation aborts (based on the lack of net connection, I assume), and the correct driver is missing. Is there another version, a nightly build or some other ISO that I could use to install the notebook?
Best wishes,
Thomas |

Hey Chiefbag,
that was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a bunch. UNetBootin did not offer a daily ISO build. |

Yeah, SystemRescueCD can use a pretty recent kernel, so it will boot for sure, you can select the default kernel or the alternative kernel if you want a bleeding edge kernel. |
