Does the latest ati-drivers still not work with hardened due to (pic)?

Why? I am using xf86-video-ati with no problems at all (in hardened of course)

libdrm-9999, mesa-9999, xf86-video-ati-9999

mesa with gallium nptl pic

And everything is working fine :)

WINE doesn't work well with gallium svn. I currently use the same configuration, but if fglrx actually works with hardened, I will happily downgrade xorg and go back to fglrx.

Ohhh, you meant ati-drivers as the closed ones :/

Sorry for misinterpreting that. Why the latest ati-drivers don't work?

I havent tested it because im currently at Xorg 1.10, which ati-drivers doesn't support.

However, if it works, I shall happily downgrade back to xorg 9.

However, downgrading is always a bit of a mess, especially because I will have to recompile the kernel for fglrx, rebuild all the X11 drivers, etc .etc

Then it all depends on what you really need :)

If you need performance the you choose fglrx and downgrade xorg, if you just need shiny desktop (compiz/kwin) then you use the open ones ;)
