How can I get rid of Xft hack

I noticed that I can't get properly hinted fonts or disable antialiasing for certain sizes while using Xft font engine. This is most probably due to the Xft hack http://www.cs.mcgill.ca/~dchest/xfthack/ included in the gentoo ebuild of XFree.

Is there eny way to restore the original Xft without having to rebuild the whole of x11-base package?
