There are no nvidia-drivers compatible with xorg-server-1.10,
as I discovered this morning to my cost.
Any fix, ... or just wait for them to appear in portage? _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

Thanks for that ... might give it a try ... or just wait for those
drivers to turn up in portage. I am lazy. _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

The 270.30 driver doesn't work well for me... When ever I maximize konsole the whole screen locks up and all I could do is sysrq reboot |

Code: | mkdir -p /usr/local/portage && echo 'PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage"' >> /etc/make.conf
mkdir -p /usr/local/portage/x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers
cd /usr/local/portage/x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers
wget http://bugs.gentoo.org/attachment.cgi?id=266775
mv attachment.cgi\?id\=266775 nvidia-drivers-270.30.ebuild
nano -w nvidia-drivers-270.30.ebuild (search for 270.18 and replace to 270.30)
cp -r /usr/portage/x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers/files ./
ebuild nvidia-drivers-270.30.ebuild digest
ebuild nvidia-drivers-270.30.ebuild depend
ebuild nvidia-drivers-270.30.ebuild merge
eselect opengl set nvidia
echo 'x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-270.30' >> /etc/portage/profile/package.provided |
Reboot.
This work for me.

Any word when the new 96.x drivers will be in the stable tree to upgrade xorg? Or has Nvidia fixed the 270 detection code to work with Nforce2s and Gforce4s? |
