Bondi Blue 233 freeze issues

Hi,

After some time of using Gentoo on my PC, my girlfriend agreed to have Gentoo on her ppc (Bondi Blue, 233Mhz).

Everything is standard in her computer but it freezes in Mozilla, Galeon and Gaim.

After some searching of the forums it may have been a java problem (it only freezes when trying to enter text in all three apps). So I changed from blackdown to IBM 1.4.1 but the same still happens.

I know it is a bit vague but any suggestions as to what I can do? It sucks that she can't use IM and is stuck with konqueror (no offence to konqueror users!).

The problems are outweighing the benfits (in her eyes) and I could really do with some help.

PS I won't even go into the no-sound issue and the computer freezing on reboot after supposedly sorting out alsa...
