I want to install the Gentoo in my second harddisk whereas the first is my Mandrake installed. How can I make the boot record in it? I followed the installation steps but I can't set up the lilo with the error "/dev/hdc is not the first boot disk". The installation document did not mention how to skip the bootloader. In fact, I just want to add a entry in my lilo in the first disk and boot to Gentoo.
Please advice and correct me if I am wrong. Thx. |

Hellomonkey,
Just to summariase: You have Mandrake on your first hard drive and Gentoo on /dev/hdc.
Skip the bootloader install in Gentoo (do not install either Grub or Lilo).
Boot up Mandrake and edit /etc/lilo.conf to add a new secton that will start Gentoo.
Fiddle with the default= to make it the default.
Rerun lilo.
It should 'Just Work'
