Hi guys
I want to be able to mount a drive and write to it, but for some reason fstab is defeating me.
This is the line in question:
Code: | /dev/sdc1 /mnt/seagateroot ext3 noatime,noauto,users,rw 0 0 |
but the following happens when I mount it
Code: | $mount /mnt/seagateroot/ (no problems)
$ mkdir /mnt/seagateroot/test
mkdir: cannot create directory `/mnt/seagateroot/test': Permission denied |
Any ideas? I'm really confused---I thought the rw option would let me write to it?? |

rw allows read-write but user still needs permission to do so. I believe having "users" in option just gives permission to mount. Mount and then chmod to correct permissions or alternately i think you can specify mode in options. Example: "mode=0777" |

do this in the folder
ls -la
read the permisions. That's 99% certain your problem. _________________ Someone asked me once if I suffered from mental illness. I told him I enjoyed every second of it.
