PostPosted: Fri Apr 08, 2011 9:26 am    Post subject: [SOLVED] Xserver, no mouse, no keyboard Reply with quote

Since few days, I have under X unusable sytem , mouse and keyboard do not work.
After X-server update I rebuilt all xinput drivers (as allways).
As first aid, I verified my /var/log/Xorg.0.log, it shows:
Code:

X.Org X Server 1.10.0.901 (1.10.1 RC 1)
Release Date: 2011-03-29
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0
Build Operating System: Linux 2.6.38-gentoo-r1 i686 Gentoo
Current Operating System: Linux karaktikus 2.6.38-gentoo-r1 #1 Thu Mar 31 14:49:35 CEST 2011 i686
Kernel command line: init=/linuxrc ramdisk=8192 real_root=/dev/hda7  video=neofb:internal,external splash=silent,theme:natural_gentoo console=tty1 quiet udev
Build Date: 02 April 2011  08:42:02PM
...
(WW) Hotplugging is on, devices using drivers 'kbd', 'mouse' or 'vmmouse' will be disabled.
(WW) Disabling myLogitechMouse
(WW) Disabling myLogitechKbd
...

Is this the answer to my problems ?

Hal daemon is running and recognizes both devices as:
Code:

udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/platform_i8042_i8042_AUX_port'
  info.linux.driver = 'psmouse'  (string)

:roll:
Once again:
1. naive greps of xorg log aren't really helpful - pastebin the whole thing
2. those 3 warnings are quite harmless, if you have correct drivers
3. hal is off -topic

As a side note:
Quote:
real_root=/dev/hda7

Make the migration.
And what video card is that anyway ?

Done.
I had to set CONFIG_INPUT_EVDEV=y in my kernel config file
and then adjust xorg.conf for new driver x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev.
Everything works fine but ... I still see errors in Xorg.0.log file.

My /etc/X11/xorg.conf looks like:
Code:

# command (or a combination of both methods).
# The default path is shown here.

Ah, right, the stupidity named 'Option "AllowEmptyInput" "off"'.
People just loved to use that in an incorrect way - which usually was by using it at all.

Drop that, remove mouse section (as you aren't setting anything there) and change keyboard to InputClass.

Once ( xorg-server >= 1.5.3) I had to use this option otherwise my keyboard was blocked.
I'll try your suggestions
By the way, yesterday evening I migrated to libata (thanks NeddySeagoon's libata migration guide :) ).
Thank you and all for help.
