|
|
Hi i m sorry if this topic has been discussed.
I ve tried everything to get rid of the red "B" flags in portage.
I cant even -u world anymore due to "blocks"
In case of kde 3.1.4 it says kdelibs 3.1.4 isnt compatible with qt3.2 BUT i dont even have qt 3.2 installed, i got 3.1.4 ! still it wont let me upgrade to kde 3.1.4
unmergint Qt would be a bad idea...and i DO need kdelibs to run kde so thats a vicious circle. any solution to get rid of those blocks ? I got a similar problem with gtk-engines-crux (which i dont even have installed!!!) and gnome-artwork! i cant upgrade that either due to a block...its getting really annoying |

someone in one of the other threads regarding this suggested unemerging kdelibs, emerge -u qt then re emerging kdelibs - worked fine for me - i did it over a SSH connection from another box though - when i went to my room i noticed that my gentoo box had dropped out of kde to GDM so it may be worth doing it from one of the virtual terminals |

I think the problem is that qt3.2 and kde 3.1.4 ar both ~x86.
try emerging things manually ie not emerge -u world.
does 'emerge -p kdelibs' show any blockers? |

Following advice in another thread, I unmerged kdelibs (did this from the console rather than from within KDE, just to be safe then:
Code: | ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -u qt # Will update QT to 3.2.x
ACCEPT_KEYWORS="~x86" emerge kdelibs # Will emerge kdelibs 3.1.4 |
It'll take a while to update qt as it needs a lot of dependencies updated. After emerging kdelibs (another lengthy process), you should be able to reboot KDE then contine with the upgrade to 3.1.4:
Code: | ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -u kde |
Best of luck.
P.S. You can do an emerge -pu to see everything that is going to be updated. |

So sorry. I should have relocated this threads to the dups bin before posting my reply. |
