|
|
I was following the install instructions, using the stage1 tarball, but when I got to the part about adding a user, I discovered that 'useradd' was not installed. I
think the install is missing a step like 'emerge -k sys-apps/shadow", or I did some other step incorrectly. If anyone has any suggestions on what happened, I'd
appreciate it. I should say that I was installing from a KNOPPIX liveCD, on an AMD Athlon, but the KNOPPIX CD was having trouble being read, so the 'useradd' from that
CD would not have worked. |

Is it perhaps just not in the path? Does /usr/sbin/useradd not exist? _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

Unfortunately it is much worse than that. I skipped from bootstrap to building the kernel. I must've been more tired than I thought when I was getting this set up.
Does the kernel have to be built after 'emerge system'? Or was that just a good idea?
I.e., I just ran emerge system, will I have to re-build the kernel? |
