Buongiorno ragazzi, perdonatemi l'ignoranza, ma ho cercato di capire fin'ora l'utilità di questa feaure di ntop senza successo. Su gentoo-portage.com dice che:

Onestamente non ho capito perche ntop dovrebbe periodicamente aggiornare un database di geolocalizzazione (presumibilmente riguardo il mio IP), qualcuno di voi ne sa di piu?

a logica direi che aggiorna un database in cui, grossomodo, si dice
da xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx a yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy -> Italia
da zzz.zzz.zzz.zzz a ttt.ttt.ttt.ttt -> Francia
e così via...
nota, l'ho solo dedotto leggendo la descrizione che hai messo, in realtà non ho prove di quello che dico

Presumibilmente per permettere ad ntop di mostrarti le bandierine con le nazioni di riferimento degli ip dei pacchetti che potresti veder passare: metti caso la tua istanza sia su qualche nodo di frontiera non sarebbe stupido o scomodo.
