Ever since upgrading to kernel 2.6.38 I have been unable to shutdown properly. Reboot works ok but if I try shutdown it freezes up on me.
Here's the last messages in my log
Apr 30 23:37:13 PhenomIIx6 shutdown[5467]: shutting down for system halt
Apr 30 23:37:13 PhenomIIx6 init: Switching to runlevel: 0
Apr 30 23:37:14 PhenomIIx6 sshd[2633]: Received signal 15; terminating.
Apr 30 23:37:14 PhenomIIx6 acpid: exiting
Apr 30 23:37:14 PhenomIIx6 stunnel: LOG5[2478:139936407074560]: Received signal 15; terminating
Apr 30 23:37:14 PhenomIIx6 /etc/init.d/local[5833]: /etc/conf.d/local should be removed.
Apr 30 23:37:14 PhenomIIx6 /etc/init.d/local[5849]: Please move the code from the local_stop function
Apr 30 23:37:14 PhenomIIx6 /etc/init.d/local[5855]: to scripts with an .stop extension
Apr 30 23:37:14 PhenomIIx6 /etc/init.d/local[5873]: in /etc/local.d
Apr 30 23:37:15 PhenomIIx6 syslog-ng[2496]: Termination requested via signal, terminating;
Apr 30 23:37:15 PhenomIIx6 syslog-ng[2496]: syslog-ng shutting down; version='3.2.2'
The last shutdown message I get is about remounting filesystem read only and then after around 20 seconds I get some message about irq19.
Does anyone have any ideas? I've checked the bugs page and forums but no one else seems to have this problem. |

Does adding 'nolapic' to the kernel boot options help? |
