|
|
I upgraded my kernel and for some reason now when I run any flash applications it appears transparent to any windows on top of it that have black.
Like for example, I open a youtube video and then I open GIMP and draw some black bars or lines, when I place simply move the GIMP window over the youtube video I can see it playing like if it is embedded in the black bars of the image.
What's even stranger is that the last image will remain with that behavior even when the flash application is closed.
For example, I have closed the video, but I can still see little parts of it within this black text that I am writing right now!
If I open my terminal which I have set to be a solid color black I can see the full image of whatever the last thing I saw in a youtube video was.
I want to stress that this happens with ANYTHING on my screen that has any black in it at all.. even long after I have closed firefox and all flash applications. I still see this image that is just like inset in anything that is black on my screen at the location where the flash application image was.
This happens with any flash application i believe, not just youtube.
What could possibly be causing this? I have no idea.... I have tried to rebuild "adobe-flash" but it didn't help.
My kernel version is: 2.6.37-gentoo-r4 (upgraded from 2.6.36-gentoo-r5)
and I am using GNome and firefox.

hi,
what version of flashplayer do you use?
my guess is adobe-flash-10.3.181.14 amd64, downgrading to adobe-flash-10.2.159.1 will do the trick.
if you're using a different version, try to run revdep-rebuild, something might be broken... |

To avoid such problems in the future (as they always come with non-64bit version) I recommend package.masking:
Code: | www-plugins/adobe-flash[-64bit] |
(donno if such thing works in portage, it does what it should in paludis) |
