|
|
I installed the drivers for the Brother HL2140 from the brother site.
I have a weird problem now.
I can only print test pages. If I print something other than a test page (i.e., in libreoffice), nothing coms out of the printer. If the printer is sleeping, it simply wakes up and does nothing.
help?
EDIT: it only happens in KDE apps (libreoffice was compiled w/ kde. Firefox is GTK, and it works there.....) _________________ ------------------------

I have a quite similar problem.
Like the above poster I can print testpages via the CUPS web interface. Printing a PDF, however, does not work at all. The printer pretends to print, but only blank pages come out. _________________ Kali Ma

In my case, something funny with the driver seems to be the culprit.
When I just choose "Print" (for example in LibreOffice), the file will print. But if I change settings, like using Normal Gray instead of Normal Colour, the document will not really print (the head moves and the paper is transported through the printer, but the page stays blank).
This is with latest stable hplip and cups on AMD64, using a HP PSC 1410. _________________ Kali Ma

Did you all have the "cups" USE flag set when libreoffice was built?

Yes.
cups use flag is set globally, in my case. My printer is connected to a server in another room. cups/client.conf is set. Some applications show me the printers name in the printing dialog. LibreOffice doesn't, just the 'generic printer'. But neither application does printing.
My first KDE-install. Not a really impressing feature... _________________ Beware of the frogs |

this comes in case of printing from the command-line
Code: | ford@HerzausGold ~ $ LANG="C" lpr -PHP_LaserJet_6P testseite.txt
lpr: Bad Request

Apologies for that.
In my case everything runs well now, even printing from LibreOffice.
All I had to do was changing the fqdn in /etc/cups/client.conf to an ip-address. Shouldn't be that because DNS works properly, but, anyway, can live with that... _________________ Beware of the frogs |

Hi,
Sorry dolphinaura for not answering in the problem, but i have exactly the same problem with my Deskjet 5550. I can't print in other quality settings. When i launch, it loads the paper and when it wants to start printing, it blocks and all the leds are blinking like a christmas tree. I have to turn off and unplug the printer, replug, cancel the task in cups and eject the loaded paper. Maybe a hplip bug ? |
