I'm using abcde to rip a buncha cd's, so i set up 'abcdr' to rip w/ my cdr drive, and 'abcdvd' to rip w/ my dvd drive, right?
For some reason, the dvd setting dosn't work well, cdparanoia gets through the ":^D" stage, then gives a ":-P" instead of the usual ":-)" and dosn't do much at all.
Do i need to set something up so the dvd drive will extract properly?

I haven't had any trouble using cdparanoia with my DVD/CD-RW drive. The difference may be that I only have one drive capable of reading CDs in my computer.
Does cdparanoia offer any other error messages besides the ""? Does anything appear in the system logs? |

Interestingly enough my DVD-rom drive is more reliable at cdda extraction than my CD-rw (albeit slower). Perhaps yours is just one that doesn't do it so well? When I was researching DVD drives to buy it seemed that many were reviewed as poor in this regard.
Another idea - are they on different bus types? If one is using scsi-emu and the other native ATAPI, you might try configuring them as the other type and see if it makes a difference. _________________ Sometimes the appropriate response to reality is to go insane.
