|

I have a HP Pavilion DV7 2170EF laptop. It has a SD reader. Until kernel 2.6.36-gentoo-r8, everything was fine. Since 2.6.37-gentoo-r4, it returns invalid data. If the SD card is not write protected, the FAT file system is corrupted on umount most of the time. I unmasked 2.6.38-gentoo-r4, the problem remains.
I tried to minimize the changes in the kernel config file between 2.6.36 and 2.6.37, no luck.
I suspect that the read block are truncated (JPEG pictures appear with diagonal stripes) but I did not investigate further.
What can I do to debug that problem?
lspci -v gives this:

Same issue here with my Acer Aspire One. SD card reader nor the multi-card reader are functional.

I tried the vanilla kernel. The SD reader works with 2.6.36.4 but fails with 2.6.37.6.
The bug is not in the Gentoo source.
How can this be reported to the Linux kernel developers? I'm not familiar with the "procedure". |
