Hi, after last update to kdm-4.6.3-r1, both fields at the login screen are empty, even if I logged myself successfully before. How to change this behaviour? |

Just open the KDM settings in KDE System Settings and change the behaviour in the last tab. Maybe you did upgrade your kdm configuration file. |

chown kdm.kdm /var/lib/kdm/kdmsts
The long story:
The last login state is stored under /var/lib in a file called kdmsts.
The runtime files were migrated from /var/lib/kdm-4.6 to /var/lib/kdm during the last update . It should have migrated everything, but delete the old directories anyway.
At the same time, the owner for /var/lib/kdm/kdmsts changed from kdm.kdm to root.root, and if kdm is executed as user, it cannot read or write to that file. So it doesn't remember the last user. |

Oh! Thank you for that tip!
