I know this is really mundane, but I'm tearing my hair out over this
I have pulseaudio, alsa on a Compaq CQ-40 (snd-hda-intel), running 2.6.37 64-bit
Issue is the microphone works for a while, then just goes dead, and a reboot is required to fix it.
I just don't understand what's logged in syslog, I can't even decide if it's pulse or the alsa driver that's having the problem.

I found it in the end. It was in the Alsa kernel driver config. Here's what I use:
Code: | options snd_hda_intel enable_msi=1 position_fix=1 enable=yes
|
And now it all seems to work. Even Ekiga works, with a faked Alsa config (default device in .asoundrc goes to pulseaudio) _________________ With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine (RFC 1925, apparently talking about Gentoo) |
