*sigh*
I get a garbled screen
some issues with that ebuild
it doesnt use my cflags
it doesnt install the game files with user/group set to games
running the game you get:
Unable to find data directory
Tried .
Tried ../data
Tried ../../data
Tried ../Resources/data
Tried /usr/local/share/vegastrike/data
Tried /usr/share/vegastrike/data
Tried /opt/share/vegastrike/data
since it searches in .
get the game to
cd /usr/local/games/vegastrike/data/
then run vegastrike/vslauncher etc etc
anybody got it to work so far? |

Ok, I wish to applogize. This is what happens when you havent messed with ebuilds in ages and then tires to be helpful.
(Not to mention forgetting to remove the config files from past installations...)

I'll try to clean up this mess and post a new ebuild. |

To fix that, try "ln -s /usr/local/games/vegastrike /usr/local/share/vegastrike".

So if I reinstall the game with the fixed ebuild, will that solve my problems?
Edit: Creating the link fixed the problem. Now I can at least start the game. Problem is, I don't know what the hell I'm doing. Need to read some documentation. |

heh I still get the garbled screen
which contains the last opengl stuff I used, ie ive had stuff from ut, et, and my screensaver all garbled up in the background
ill try to get a picture
anybody got it to work with a 5900ultra/4496 nvidia drivers?
btw it didnt install it as games:

The garbled screen is nothing to worry about.
According to a post at the VS forum, it's just sdl initializing.
As for the 100% cpu usage, I have no idea. sorry =/
And neither have I any idea what the problem LordDavon is having is caused by. =/
You might want to try using the installation script provided by the folks at vegastrike.sf.net, and check if that works. |

I have put together an ebuild based on Xaignar's. The dependencies are twiddled a bit, and the game data gets installed into /usr/share/games instead of /usr/local/games. It seems to work fine for me. Since it contains some patches, here's a url for grabbing it:

Moled: I have no problems running with 5900ultra/4496 drivers. I get the garbled screen, then it starts loading the game. |

I built it with Xaignar ebuild and it seems to work fine. The only two details are the sound doesn't seem to work and I need to read the manual.
If anyone has a suggestion on the sound I would like to hear it. |
