|
|
I have followed the Wojno guide and got my VM to boot using a XenSources kernel. However when I boot, i can see my root file system, but the other mounts are not there, and I am unable to see the XVDx devices anywhere in the system. I can see SDA1/2 but unable to mount them. DMESG shows that XVDA1/2 and XVDB1/2 are detected. Later in the process I get a stat failed for XVDA1, no such file or directory. Earlier, I did suffer from the missing /dev folder, and I ended up copying the contents of the livecd /dev folder to my Gentoo install. There are no xvd* devices in /dev.
Thoughts?

while making nodes did you also add udev to the sysinit runlevel? _________________ Defund the FCC. |

That got me on the right path Donahue, thanks! I did not have it in that runlevel.
Opened a new can of worms though, as xen-sources is 2.6.18 for x86_64, and udev 164 is too new for that kernel. Can't downrev udev to 141 because of Baselayout 2 and OpenRC. So.. I found another Wiki that said gentoo-sources >2.6.23 has XEN support and xen-sources is not needed. Compiled a new kernel and off to the races. Not sure why, but somehow I have mounted /dev/root and /dev/root is a symlink to xvdb2, and fstab has xvdb2 in it - but whatever, it works.
Thanks!! |

that's expect behaviour
you'll have two rootfs entries in /proc/mounts, this is part of the move to openrc (and should not affect anything negatively) _________________ Lost configuring your system?
