|
|
Hi,
I like the parallel boot option (RC_PARALLEL="yes" in /etc/rc.conf), but sometimes I need an interactive boot (RC_INTERACTIVE="yes" in /etc/rc.conf); they are mutually exclusive.
I'd like to put two lines in grub: one with parallel, and one with interactive. Therefore: is it possible to create a kernel line option that switches between the two (e.g., specifying an alternative rc.conf)?
TIA,
Erik |

Kernel line I don't think so. The live cd prompts you in the init script for interactive, I believe genkernel's env does it as well. Not sure if it disables parallel or not. I'm not exactly sure how it goes about it... but I would modify the init script to prompt for an interactive boot wait for timeout for default setting and set your variables accordingly. _________________ Steve - Semper Fi |

Dunno if that works, but should, imho: Copy both rc.conf files into your initrd, in the initrd's init, check the cmdline and then copy the appropriate rc.conf to the system before calling the real init? _________________ ++++++++++[>+++++++>++++++++++>+++>+<<<<-]>++.>+.+++++++..+++.>++.<<+++++++++++++++.>.+++.------.--------.>+.>. |
