Hi-
I'm wondering if anyone knows of a backup utility, or any program/script that has the functionality of making uncompressed file backups maximizing the usage of arbitrary backup sizes (say, that of a DL DVD (8GB), CD(700MB), etc).
So for example:
I want to back up all of my documents, and there are no files larger than the ~8gb limit of a DL DVD that I want to back up to. In total however, there is 18GB of data, and I would like to backup to as few discs as possible, but not have to manually arrange/split up the folder structure for each disc--I would like to have this done automatically.
Does this make sense?
Do any tools exist that do something like this?
Thanks!

And sarab is a wonderful front end to schedule dar backups, simple but powerful, will do just about anything needed for a small network. Although, why uncompressed? Why not compress them, easy to uncompress them, yank out individual files or directories. |

I would rather not compress because these backups are for clients, and they have a hard enough time finding the files they need/want without having to deal with some archive format. |
