Also says Kernel Panic: Attempted to kill init

I'd take a pic, but i don't have a digicam.

It's 1.4rc3, but i ran emerge sync and emerge -u the other day, so it should be up to date.

No idea what's wrong.

You could be more specific about the problem..... does it always panic on boot, or does it boot correctly and fail only when you use a certain module/driver/program ?

If I were you, I'd build a good clean 2.4.22 kernel with no strange extras first, it's more likely the kernel's fault, and not any application's.......

okay, thanks, i'll try building a new one then.

and yes, it panics every time i try.

i read to check that the filesystems in the kernel to make sure they're not built in as modules, as that could be the problem.
