I'm wondering if it is possible to host the /home partition on a networked file server. like schools and businesses do, and have just a minimal OS on a terminal PC.
Thanks for any help. |

I have /home mounted over nfsv4 on my home systems. There are a few cautionary things you might do, though. I also have a /local filesystem, which looks stunningly like /home, in other words, every user has their own directory there. Then with /home not mounted, I created a symlink for every user back to that user's space on /local. Now if the system is booted without the nfs being available, everyone has some minimal working environment. _________________ .sigs waste space and bandwidth |
