I ask me if it's normal the installation of my software last many time.
the installation of KDE lasted 48h without interruption.
It's installing Libreoffice during 12h and it'x continuing, (making, compiling,....) _________________ Antoine,

With an older system that could very well be the case. Compilation is a highly computationally intensive task.
But on a newer system this length is not acceptable.
Make sure you have the parallel compiling option MAKEOPTS="-jN" set with the correct number N
(if I remember correctly 2n+1 when you have a total of n cores)
and for openoffice I had to put WANT_MP="true" for parallel processing to be done. But I can't say if that is still the case for libreoffice.
Also if you have enough RAM (and possibly a slow hard drive) it is recomended, that you mount your /var/tmp/portage/ as tmpfs,
because especially openoffice (or libreoffice I guess) compilation uses that dir quite intensively (I'm not sure, but I would make its size 2GB at least).
Also look out, that there is no other process using your resources (e.g. with htop).
greetings

Unless you have a uber god box, tmpfs wont be large enough for those compiles.
