Ok, so I installed gentoo the other day. Upon reboot everything worked except - you guessed it - the network. I get the can't bring up eth0/can't mount netmount messages.
I looked around this board for awhile (which I'm finding isn't entirely easy using links from the livecd - where networking works, mind you) and have been trying a few of the solutions that helped others. Nothing yet.
I have a sis 735 board w/lan bulid in. When I do a lsmod at the livecd prompt it shows 3 mods being used: sis900, cloop, and usbcore. I assume the correct driver is the sis900, so I compiled it into my kernel. Nothing. I tryed recompiling the kernel with it as a mod. Loads the mod at startup but still can't start eth0. What am I missing?
For refrence (tho they seem to have nothing to do with networking to me), the other modules listed by lsmod are ohci1394, ieee1394, serial, isa-pnp, usb-storage, hid, and usb-ohci. None of these are shown as being used (or have a 0 by them anyways).
Lets see... I also set my bios to no on pnp detect and I added the following options in my grub.conf file on the kernel line: pci=noapic acpi=off apic=off
Any help would be apprecated. Thanks!
